EARLY MEETINGS

From Rennes to Gargnano: the first RAMIRAN meetings

A closer look at the five research areas of 1998 and the technology-transfer agenda of 2000.

The former activities page recorded 136 delegates from 26 countries at the Rennes meeting in May 1998. Its theme was management strategies for organic-waste use in agriculture, and its programme divided the discussion among management, agronomic value, gaseous emissions, processing and environmental impacts.

A turn toward technology transfer

The Gargnano workshop in September 2000 was described under a technology-transfer theme. The historical account listed legislation and good practice, air and water pollution, waste handling, land spreading and transfer of technologies among its topics. This widened the conversation from individual research results to the practical conditions for use.
